Phoenix to the Grand Canyon: What to Expect
The Grand Canyon's South Rim is about 230 miles from central Phoenix. The National Park Service puts the drive at roughly four hours each way, and a group bus with stops usually takes a bit longer. That makes it a long day trip, which is why groups hire a driver instead of taking turns behind the wheel.
The usual route runs north on I-17 to Flagstaff, then on to the park's South Entrance by way of Williams or Flagstaff. The South Rim sits around 7,000 feet, so it's often 20 degrees or more cooler than Phoenix and can see snow in winter.

Park Entry, Timing and Planning Tips
Grand Canyon National Park charges entrance fees, and commercial group vehicles are handled differently from private cars. We'll confirm how park entry works for your group and what's included when we quote.
Allow enough time at the rim to make the drive worthwhile. For most groups that means at least three hours in the park.

Can we do the Grand Canyon as a day trip from Phoenix?
Yes. Many groups do, with an early departure and a return in the evening. If you want Sedona too, or a sunrise or sunset at the rim, an overnight trip is more relaxed.
Does the trip include the Grand Canyon Skywalk?
No. The Skywalk is at Grand Canyon West, operated separately and much closer to Las Vegas. Trips from Phoenix go to the South Rim inside the national park.
Are park entrance fees included?
